Belly Dance By Candlelight Classes


Belly dance by candlelight 5 week course starts on Monday 27th February at 7.30pm Wallasey URC Hall. £8 taster / £35 5 classes. 

Early Bird Taster Offer available until 20th January-  £4.50 candlight belly dance taster (usually £8) 

Belly dance by candlelight is relaxing belly dancing class that incorporates simple and gentle feminine bellydance moves steps and routines practiced to authentic music and dance of the middle east north Africa and Turkey (MENAT).

We touch upon the traditions of candles fire and mindfull balancing techniques used within belly dance including Egyptian dance, Cabaret belly dance and holistic social belly dance.

This course is relaxing and therapeutic taught in an inclusive safe environment that welcomes celebrates and encourages all to dance.

Mindful seated relaxation, Mint and rose teas included at the end of class. 

This class is suitable for people of all ages and dance abilities including total beginners upto experienced dancers. All welcome.

The 5 Week Course 

Venue - Wallasey Village URC Church Hall

 5 minutes walk from Wallasey Grove Road & Wallasey Village train stations. Free car parking in the church car park at the side of the church.

What to wear - anything you feel comfortable to dance in, just remember to avoid injury don't wear anything to tight, to baggy or to long. Most people wear gym, dance or yoga clothing, leggings and a fitted top is fine. You can show your belly if you like but you don't have to, all bellies of all shapes are welcome at this class. 

Shoes.... Traditionally it is fine to dance barefoot but for health and safety reasons It's advisable to wear soft flat comfortable shoes like ballet jazz dance type shoes. You can buy a belly dance slipper version here. However fold up shoes are great as are an ordinary shoes of the same description are fine. Some community and church hall flooring may not be suitable to dance barefoot so please bring shoes. (Socks to keep your feet warm)

Coin hip scarves and other props are provided but if you prefer to bring your own feel free to do so.

Bring socks and a blanket to keep warm when doing the seated relaxation. You may wish to being a cushion for comfort on your chair.
